In Automation Center, action rules are typically created from unprocessed exceptions to leverage the automatic pre-filling of key exception details from the exception to the action rule. You can also create action rules from scratch via the Create New button on the toolbar where you will need to fill in all the required details.

To create an action rule in Automation Center:

  1. In the Exceptions workspace, search for exceptions you wish to resolve and from which you wish to create action rules.
In this example, we will search for all MTOPEN/BUY exceptions from 11/3/2015 that were handled by the EAGLEADMIN user.
  2. Click the green Search button.
You see a list of exceptions based on the criteria you entered.
  3. Right click an exception and select Create Action Rule From Selected.
In this example, you will create an action rule to resolve Error Code 742.
  4. In the Create New Action Rule dialog box, enter the rule name and description.
  5. For the Rule Invocation Type, click the browse button and double click the appropriate folders to select a panel.
In this example, click the browse button and double click eagle, double click star, and double click trade. Click Open Debt Bond and click OK.
  6. After you have selected the panel, click the tabs under Rule Properties and complete the appropriate fields in each tab.
In this example, click the Categories tab to add the new action rule to two categories.
  7. Check the appropriate boxes for the categories and click Save.
In this example, check the System: Open Panels and Panels categories.

In the Action Rules Settings workspace, you see the Action Rules Summary with the new rule added to the categories you selected.
  8. Click the Rules List tab to see the rule and its details.
  9. To return to the Exceptions workspace to reprocess the exception with the newly created action rule, click the X in the Action Rule Settings bottom tab.
