You can protect data in the Data Mart from being accidentally overwritten using the Manage Status link. This functionality is similar to that used for committed PACE Performance returns. Performance status appears as a flag field in the PERF_SUMMARY table. In the Mart, the status flag field is in the FUND_MASTER table. A single status value exists for each dmart_fund_id, which depends upon a unique combination of fund (entity), effective date and snapshot.

Note that this means that data in the Security Details and Issuer Details tables cannot be protected by a status setting, because these tables are cross-entity in nature and lack a dmart_fund_id field. In other tables, rows with a status of Preliminary can be overwritten by a new Submit process, but Final status protects the data.

Two status flags, Preliminary (P) and Final (F) are available by default. Additional Data Mart status flags support further granularity when describing the status of data built in the Data Mart. You can supplement these two values with any number of additional values, and then report on your Mart data according to its status. However, only Final status preserves data from accidental rewrite.

The list of possible values of build status is contained in an internal code value called DMFUNDSTATUS (Code Instance 10335). By default, entries of (P) Preliminary and (F) Final are located there, but you can supplement these with any number of additional values.

These code values are available in a dropdown menu in the Other Options section of the Ad Hoc Submit dialog box and the Data Mart Schedule. This dropdown also appears in the Manage Status section of View Mart Data. Only a status of F Final prevents given DMART_FUND_ID from being overwritten by a new build. You can use this status information by building reports that access the BUILD_STATUS field of the Data Mart Fund Master table for any given entity, date, and snapshot.

You can associate a status flag of with any fund/effective date combination by using one of the following methods:

  • During submission on an ad hoc or scheduled basis – Refer to Submit a Model and Schedule Model Submissions for information about managing the status before the data is built in the Mart tables.
  • After submission using Manage Status – You select a list of funds, an effective date or date range, and status to assign to the data.

You can choose to use the Final status designation to indicate data approval in a formal approval process.
