    Info

If you want to use free-form text to overwrite the issuer value, then you must enter a value in the Issuer ID field. If you do not know the Issuer ID, enter the name Issuer Name (or part of the issuer name) in the search box space provided and then click Searchsearch

Note the Issuer ID number that corresponds and enter it into the Issuer ID field. Click Search.

The dialog re-displays with the results of your search.

  4. Select the issuer by checking on the corresponding check box.
  5. You can also select the Make this My Default Search by clicking the corresponding checkbox.
  6. Click Apply to close the window and then click Save.
You see the value displayed in the Issuer field.

  • In step 2 – I think the instructions should clarify that if you want to use the free form to override the Issuer value (instead of the ellipses), that you need to populate the Issuer id, instead of issuer name. The reason questions originally came up surrounding this field is because when clients try to override an issuer, they will likely try to type in something like “General Electric” (instead of issuer id “001367960”) which would then populate an error stating that “no data exists”. Clients typically use the free form by default if they know exactly what they want to type in because its faster. However, most clients won’t know that they need to type in Issuer id which I think is really what we want to make clear in this article.
