The Issuer field is considered a special field within the Reference Data Center.  To enter free-form text, or select a value other than in the drop-down box, use the Select Issuers Advanced Search dialog to populate the field.

1. In the Edit Securities window, right click on the Overwrite field.
   You see the Overwrite dialog.

2. In the New Value field, to enter free-form text, or to select a value other than in the drop-down list, click the ellipses next to the drop-down.
   You see the Select Issuers dialog. 

3. Enter part or all of the Issuer ID or Issuer Name in the space provided and then click Search.

   If you want to use free-form text to overwrite the issuer value, then you must enter the Issuer ID field. If you do not know the Issuer ID, enter the name or part of the issuer name in the search box and then click Search.  Note the Issuer ID number that corresponds and enter it into the Issuer ID field. Click Search.

   The dialog re-displays with the results of your search. 

4. Select the issuer by checking on the corresponding check box. 
5. You can also select the Make this My Default Search by clicking the corresponding checkbox.
6. Click Apply to close the window and then click Save.
   You see the value displayed in the Issuer field.
