In the Edit Entity Detail window, you can resolve exceptions in two ways:

  • Override the value of a field that failed validation
  • Release the exception

When you attempt to resolve a security, Reference Data Center validates the changes.

Override the Value of a Failed (Validation) Field

To override the value of a field that failed validation:

  1. In the Portfolio Desk workspace, click the appropriate category in the left navigation.
    The see the Entity Summary workspace opens, displaying the available entities.
  2. Click the View By drop-down list and then select All.
  3. Complete the required search criteria and then click Search.
  4. Scroll down the list and then select the entity you want to resolve and then click Edit or double-click.
    The Edit Entity window opens, displaying the EntityEntity Details tab selected.

  5. Select the exception you want to resolve.
  6. The Details pane displays the field.
  7. Double-click the Current field to enable the edit window for the field.
    The Current Value dialog box opens, displaying the current value.
  8. In the NewNew Value text box, complete one of the following steps:
    - Enter a new value.
    - Select the Make this Null check box to release the field to the Eagle data warehouse with a null value.
  9. In the Edit Type drop-down list, select an edit type. Select one of the following options:

    OptionDescription

    Override

    The system uses the new value for the gold copy field.

    Default

    The system uses the new value if no vendor data is received and the override date has not expired.

    Temporary Override

    The system uses the new value until new vendor data is received.


  10. In the ExpiresExpires After text box, enter the expiration date of the override.
  11. In the ReasonReason Code drop-down list, select a reason code.
  12. Optionally, enter a user-defined comment and then click Save.
    The system updates the field and displays a blue arrow to the left of the field.
  13. Click Submit to launch the change request. All edits are processed through the PDC engine to assure new values are validated.
  14. Close the Edit Security bottom tab to return to the Securities workspace.

Release an Exception

To release an exception:

  1. In the Portfolio Desk workspace, click the appropriate category in the left navigation.
    The Entity Summary workspace opens, displaying the available entities.
  2. Click the View By drop-down list and then select All.
  3. Complete the required search criteria and then click Search.
  4. Scroll down the list and then select the entity you want to resolve and then click Edit or double-click.
    The Edit Entity window opens, displaying the Entity Details tab selected.

  5. Select the exception you want to resolve.
  6. Click Release Exception.
    The Release Exception dialog box opens.
  7. Click the Begin Date and End Date drop-down lists to establish the time frame to release this exception.
  8. In the Comment text box, enter a comment about the exception release.
  9. Click the Reason Code drop-down list and then select a reason for the exception release.
  10. To complete the release of this exception, click Save.
  11. Close the Edit Security bottom tab to return to the Securities workspace.

View and Edit Data Overrides

You can list and edit the data overrides you have committed.

To list and edit data overrides:

  1. In the Portfolio Desk workspace, navigate to the appropriate entity.
  2. Click Data Overrides on the ribbon.
    The Data Overrides dialog box opens, displaying the list of overrides that satisfy the default filter options.
  3. In the filter section, you can change the default options as required.
  4. Click Search.
    The search returns a list of overrides that satisfy the changed filter options.
  5. Select an override in the list and then click Edit Data Override.
    The Edit Data Override dialog box opens.
  6. Revise the override as required and then click OK.
    The system displays the refreshed list of data overrides with the change applied.

View and Edit Released Exceptions

You can list and edit the exceptions you have released for an entity.

To list and edit released exceptions:

  1. In the Portfolio Desk workspace, click the appropriate entity category in the left navigation.
    The Entities workspace opens, displaying the available entities for the category.
  2. Complete the optional search criteria and then click Search.
    The system displays the search results based on the criteria you selected.
  3. Highlight the entity you want to authorize (click).
  4. Click Released Exceptions on the ribbon.
    The Released Exceptions dialog box opens, displaying the list of released exceptions that satisfy the default filter options.
  5. In the filter section, you can change the following default options:

    Entity Type

     

    Status (Required)

     

    Expiration Date Range

     

    Reason code

     


  6. Click Search.
    The system displays the list of released exceptions that satisfy the changed filter options.
  7. Select an exception in the list and then click Edit Released Exception.
    The Edit Released Exception dialog box opens.
  8. Revise the exception as required and then click OK.
    The system displays the refreshed list of released exceptions with the change applied.
