You can exclude one or more sectors in a master fund entity from the allocation process.

Exclude a Sector from the Allocation Process

In the Create Sector Exclusion panel, you can exclude a sector from the allocation process.

To exclude a sector from the allocation process:

  1. In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup Fund Accounting > Allocation Exclusions > Create Sector Exclusion.
    You see the Create Sector Exclusion panel.

  2. In the Master Fund ID field or Master Fund field, specify the name or identifier of the master fund entity associated with sectors you want to exclude.

  3. Click Submit.
    You see a list of sectors for the master fund entity in the Show All tab.

  4. Select the row for each sector you want to exclude from the allocation process so that a check mark appears in the Select column and click Exclude Sector.
    You see a row for each sector you selected for exclusion in the Exclude Sector tab. For each sector you are excluding, you can change the following information:  Effective Date, Termination Date, Activity Type, and Designate Share Class. The remaining fields describing the sector are locked and are for informational purposes only. Notice that the locked Exclude Sector field is set to Yes, indicating that you want to exclude the sector.

  5. In the Effective Date field, specify the start date on which the exclusion becomes effective. 
    By default, the current date appears.

  6. In the Termination Date field, enter the date in which you want to cancel or end the exclusion.

  7. In the Activity Type field, enter the type of activity you are excluding from the sector allocation. 
    Options include Cash, Distributions, Dividend Reinvest, Expenses, Redemptions, Sector "Catch All", Short Term Investment, and Subscriptions. You can also exclude your own activity types.

  8. In the Designate Share Class field, specify a share class to exclude from allocation.

  9. Click Submit.

Exclude Sector Activity from the Allocation Process

In the Create Activity Type Exclusions panel, you can exclude selected types of activity from the allocation process for a sector. Activity types that you can exclude include cash, distributions, dividend reinvestments, expenses, redemptions, short term investments, and subscriptions.

To exclude sector activity from the allocation process:

  1. In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup Fund Accounting > Allocation Exclusions > Create Activity Type Exclusions.
    You see the Create Activity Type Exclusion panel.

  2. In the Master Fund field or Master Fund ID field, specify the name or identifier of the master fund entity associated with sector activity you want to exclude.

  3. Click Submit.
    You see a list of sectors for the specified master fund entity in the Show All tab.

  4. Select the row for each sector with activity types you want to exclude from the allocation process so that a check mark appears in the Select column, and click Exclude Activity.
    You see a row for each sector you selected for exclusion. For each sector/activity type grouping you want to exclude from allocation, you can change the following information:  Activity Type, Effective Date, Termination Date.

  5. In the Activity Type field, select the type of activity you want to exclude for the corresponding sector. 
    Options include Cash, Distributions, Dividend Reinvest, Expenses, Redemptions, Sector "Catch All", Short Term Investment, and Subscriptions. You can also exclude your own activity types.

  6. In the Effective Date field, enter the start date that the exclusion becomes effective for the corresponding sector/activity type. 
    By default, the current date appears.

  7. In the Termination Date field, enter the date in which you want to cancel or end the exclusion.
    To exclude more than one activity type for a sector, right click and select Add Rows. Notice that the locked Exclude field is set to Yes, indicating that you want to exclude the activity type.

  8. Click Submit.

  9. Click Close.
    You see the Show All tab.

Edit the Exclusion Status

In the Edit Exclusion Status panel, you can change the allocation status of an excluded sector and/or an excluded sector activity type. 

To edit the allocation status of an excluded sector and/or an excluded sector activity type:

  1. In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup Fund Accounting > Allocation Exclusions > Edit Exclusion Status.
    You see the Edit Exclusion Status panel.

  2. In the Master Fund field or Master Fund ID field, specify the name or identifier of the master fund entity associated with the allocation status you want to change.

  3. In the Effective Date field, specify the effective date of the exclusion. 
    By default, the current date appears.

  4. Click Submit.
    You see a list of sectors and activity types currently or previously marked for exclusion for the master fund entity in the Show All tab. Entries currently set for exclusion have a value of Y in the Active Status column.

  5. Select the row for each sector/activity type with an allocation exclusion status you want to change so that a check mark appears in the Select column, and click Change Status.
    You see a row for each master fund/sector/activity type you selected for exclusion.

  6. For each sector/activity type grouping you no longer want to exclude from allocation, set the Exclude field value to No.
    You can change the value to No to undo the exclusion. Yes indicates that the sector/activity type/class is excluded from allocation on the effective date. No indicates that the sector/activity/class is no longer excluded from allocation. You can also change one or more of the following values for each entry, as needed:  Effective Date, Exclude, Activity Type, Termination Date, Designate Share Class.

  7. In the Effective Date, you can change the date that the exclusion becomes effective for the corresponding sector/activity type/class.

  8. In the Activity Type field, you can change the type of activity you want to exclude for the corresponding sector. 
    Options include Cash, Distributions, Dividend Reinvest, Expenses, Redemptions, Sector "Catch All", Short Term Investment, and Subscriptions. You can also exclude your own activity types.

  9. In the Termination Date field, you can change the date in which you want to cancel or end the exclusion.

  10. In the Designate Share Class field, you can change the share class to exclude from allocation.

  11. Click Submit.
    The system adds the specified sectors, activity types, and/or classes back into the allocation process.

  12. Click Close.
    You see the Show All tab.

List Allocation Exclusions

In the List Exclusion Rules panel, you can view a list of allocation exclusions.

To view a list of allocation exclusions:

  1. In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup Fund Accounting > Allocation Exclusions > List  Exclusion Rules.
    You see the List Exclusion Rules panel.

  2. In the Master Fund ID field or Master Fund field, specify the name or identifier of the master fund entity associated with the allocation exclusions you want to view.

  3. In the Effective Date field, specify the effective date of the exclusions. 
    By default, the current date appears.

  4. Click Submit.
    The system displays information about the allocation exclusions that met your criteria in the Show All tab in a grid format and the List Exclusions tab in a report format.

Delete Allocation Exclusions

In the Delete Exclusion Rules panel, you can delete sectors and sector activities excluded from the allocation process.

To delete an allocation exclusion:

  1. In Accounting Center, in the left navigation pane, click Setup Fund Accounting > Allocation Exclusions > Delete Exclusion Rules.
    You see the Delete Exclusion Rules panel.

  2. In the Master Fund ID field or Master Fund field, specify the name or identifier of the master fund entity associated with the allocation exclusions you want to delete.

  3. In the Effective Date field, specify the effective date of the exclusions you want to delete. 
    By default, the current date appears.

  4. Click Submit.
    You see a list of sectors and activity types for the master fund entity that met your criteria in the Show All tab. Entries currently set for exclusion have a value of Y in the Active Status column.

  5. Select the row for each sector/activity type with an allocation exclusion status you want to delete so that a check mark appears in the Select column, and click Delete Status.
    You see a row for each master fund/sector/activity type you selected for deletion. The fields describing the exclusion are locked and are for information only.

  6. Click Submit to delete the selected rows.
