You can create a custom benchmark with a type of Currency Conversion. For example, you can configure the custom benchmark to convert the Domestic Equity Index from USD to British Pounds. Before creating the new benchmark, confirm the accuracy of the inception date and base currency of the source entity, the entity that currently exists in the PERFORM database that you want to convert to another currency.

...

  1. Click Create New on the Home tab ribbon to create the custom benchmark to convert to another currency.
The Create New dialog box appears.
  2. Select Custom Benchmarks from the Select Policy drop-down list.
The Select Custom Index Type drop-down list appears in the dialog box.
  3. Select Currency Conversion from the Custom Index Type drop-down list and click OK.
You see the Create New Custom Benchmark wizard with the Details page displayed.
  4. In the Details page, enter the Effective Date, Entity ID and Entity Name for the custom benchmark.
  5. Select a value from the Entity Base Currency drop-down list. This value is the target base currency, which identifies the base currency to convert to.
  6. Enter the Inception Date for the custom benchmark. This field is not required, but as a best practice, Eagle recommends entering an inception date that matches the effective date of the earliest definition (that is, the earliest date associated with data entered) for the custom benchmark.
  7. Click Next.
    The Currency Conversion page opens.
  8. Enter the required fields.
Source Entity Name. The source entity from the PERFORM database.
Source. The source under which the source entity data is stored in the PERFORM database.
Source Performance Model. The source dictionary under which the entity data is stored in the PERFORM When you select the source dictionary, the system displays the levels and sub levels associated with that dictionary in a grid at the bottom of the page.
  9. In the FX Source Rule field, select a current source rule to use for the exchange rates. Ensure that the Source Rule includes a foreign exchange source which determines the spot rate used to convert the component Base Currency to match the Target Base Currency.
Source Base Currency. Identifies the base currency to convert from. Displays the base currency associated with the source entity selected on this page.
Target Base Currency. Identifies the base currency to convert to. Displays the base currency you entered for the custom benchmark on the Entity Details page.
If you do not indicate the currency, the fields display a value of Not Specified.
  10. Select or clear the Build index to include a security level data. This check box allows you to build the security level by entity. To build index to include security level data, select one of the following options from the drop-down list:
     - Build Single Position
     - Build Positons by Strategy
     - Build Positions by Strategy and Dictionary Classification.
  11. Click Save.
The custom index attributes information is saved in the database in the rulesdbo.custom_index_attributes table.
Additional pages are available in the entity setup but they are not required for the custom benchmark setup.
