If you use the multiple marts feature to define more than just the default DATAMART instance (schema) of the Eagle warehouse, you can migrate to any of them from upstream to downstream environments. When migrating multiple marts, note that:
Migration can only take place between the same-named Mart instances in two different Eagle environments. Instances are identified by the Name field in the Define Data Mart Instance dialog box, as shown in Define Data Mart Instance Dialog Box. This Name does not have to match the database schema name itself, though you can use this convention for simplicity.
Note that this dialog box does not list the default DATAMART instance in the database of the Eagle warehouse. If you have set up instances that should be the source and target of a migration, but did not use the same Name during their setup, you can change the Name field of one or another instance to satisfy the requirement.
Even if you migrate models between instances that reside outside the Eagle warehouse, migration only changes the Data Mart configuration tables in the RULES schema of the warehouse database. Only data tables, not configuration tables, actually exist in Data Mart schemas.
Multiple marts migration is not used to copy models between different instances within a given environment. Use the Copy Model feature in Data Mart to do that.
You can duplicate model and field IDs across instances, just not within instances.
