The following glossary provides key System Management Center concepts and terminology.
Glossary Term | Definition |

Ad Hoc Schedule | Use this command to deliver query results to one of the following types of destination: FTP, Email, or HTTP. You can customize the result format using the Delivery Format parameter in the EagleTool Kit Ad Hoc Schedule Properties dialog box. This dialog box opens on click of the Run and Deliver Selected Item(s) context menu Item in the Queries window, or you can use the Run and Deliver button on the Queries ribbon. |
Archive | Schedule execution results can be found in the Archive Tool Kit Items window. You can open this window by using the Show Archive button on the Queries ribbon. |
Briefcase | Allows you to collect files and queries to execute and deliver them to a specified location. The Briefcase button group is available on the Home ribbon. Use the View Briefcase button to review collected Items. For adding items to the Briefcase, use the context menu button or the Add to Briefcase button on the Home ribbon. |
Cancel Event command | STAR Event can be canceled by the Cancel Event command using Event ID. The Cancel Event button can be found on the Services ribbon in any STAR Engine service Details windows. |
Change Group commnd | Engine Group can be changed by the Change Group command for any engine. This command can be found in the context menu if the STAR Engine service is selected in the Services window, or on the Services ribbon in the STAR Engine Details window. |
Change PACE Servers Log Level | General PACE Servers Log Level can be changed using the button from the Event types ribbon which is accessible from the Event Types window in the System Settings area. |
Config File History | Each configuration file which is accessible in the Configuration tabs has history of changes. This history can be opened using the context menu. Doing changes via System Management Center, you can add comments for these changes. The prompt dialog box is shown after clicking the Save button. |
Config File Versions Comparision | Allows you to compare the configuration file content with previous modifications in order to find differences between the two versions. You can find the Compare button after selecting the two versions of changes in the File History window. To use this feature, you need to use a comparison tool (for example, Beyond Compare, Araxis) which should be available on your workstation and defined in the Options dialog box on the Home ribbon. |
Contribute Query | Allows you to contribute a custom query to the core queries list in future versions. The Contribute Query command can be used to contribute any custom query. This command can be found on the Queries ribbon, or in the context menu if a custom query is selected. |
Control Commands | Controls commands are used to manage services from the System Management Center windows. All available commands can be found in the context menu in the Services window for the selected service. Or, you can find the Start, Stop, and Restart buttons on the Services ribbon when the service Details window is opened. You can also collect process stacks during stopping and restarting of processes. For the Start Engine and PACE Server services, the following additional commands are present: Clone and Delete. NOTE: For some service types such as EM Shell, Web Server, and TPE Server, only the Restart command is available. |
Coredumps Monitor | This feature can be used for getting email reports when a new core dump is generated. The settings for monitoring can be found in the System Health Monitor window in the System Settings area. You should be subscribed to the Eagle Management Center Coredump Alerts mailing to receive email reports in the Email Settings window in the System Settings area. |
Credentials | Credentials file content and all related operations such as adding new credentials, edit, or delete, are accessible in System Management Center from the Credentials tab in the Database Connections window in the System Settings area. |
Current Snapshot | Each STAR Engine Service has an additional Current Snapshot tab. In this tab, you can find the following information: log pages count, general information related to the log page, Pipeline Queues, Thread Activity, Thread Efficiency, Time spend per message, MEM Internals, Calc Internals, Transaction counts, Transaction events, Transaction rates, Database Statistics, and Database Transactions - Delta Statistics. |
Database Connections | Database connections and all the related operations such as adding new connections, edit, or delete, are accessible in System Management Center from the Db Connections tab in the Database Connections window in the System Settings area. |
Disable Service | Some service types such as NASDAQ, Eagle JMS Brokers, JMS Brokers, and Message Broker for Active MQ, that are already installed and enabled in System Management Center can be disabled from System Management Center by using the Enable/Disable Services option in the System Settings area. |
Email Settings | Email settings in System Management Center allow you to manage users subscriptions for mailings. The Advanced tab can be used to configure mailing parameters such as connection for SMTP Server, Description, and the Mail From value. |
Enable Service | Some service types such as NASDAQ, Eagle JMS Brokers, JMS Brokers, and Message Broker for Active MQ. that are already installed can be enabled in System Management Center to use control commands, view log files, and check configuration files by using the Enable/Disable Services option in the System Settings area. |
Engine Capacity Groups | Allows you to manage Engine Capacity Groups from System Management Center. List of available Engine Capacity Groups and all related parameters such as Scheduled Ratio, Ad Hoc Ratio, and Include Ad Hocs can be found in the Engine Capacity Groups window in the System Settings area. |
Engine Groups Timeouts | For each STAR Engine Group, you can define a different timeout value. You can find these settings in the SyncSend Settings window in the Timeouts tab. |
Engine Profile | Engine Profiles can be used for STAR Engine services. You can find service profiles in the Profiles window in the System Settings area. Each profile contains properties and they can be accessed using the Show Properties command in the context menu. |
Engines View | The Engine View window can be found in the LoadBalancer Configuration tab. This window contains the following information about each engine: Name, Host, IP, CCF Port, Duplex Port, Group, Load Level, Loadig Rate, Running Status, Star Manager Enabled, State, timeout, and Virtual Memory Used. |
Event Log Monitor | This feature can be used for getting email reports that contain information from the Windows Event Logs, including the Application, System, and Security types. The settings for monitoring can be found in the System Health Monitor window in the System Settings area. Also, you should be subscribed to the Event Log Monitor Notifications mailing to receive email reports in the Email Settings window in the System Settings area. |
Event Types | A list of available PACE Event Types with related settings is available in the Event Type window in the System Settings area. |
External Connections | The External Connections window can be used to manage FTP and SMTP connection types. SMTP connections are used in the mail properties in the Advanced tab of Email Settings. FTP connection should contain at least one path as they are used for delivery settings in different places of System Management Center such as Schedules (Diagnostics), Briefcase, Extract Blobs, and Send Logs & Configuration. |
Extract Blobs | CSV files and DB Insert Scripts for Cost, Cash, and Income positions can be delivered to an FTP location or Email address, or saved locally using the Extract BLOBs wizard in the Diagnostics area. |
Files Explorer | The Files Explorer tab is present for each installation and allows you to check the folder structure and navigate to different locations to check configuration, logs, backups, and other files. You can view text type files using the Open command in the context menu. The Briefcase feature is also available for this window. |
Generic Logs | The Logs window in the Diagnostics area allows you to search for log files through the entire environment, including backups with parameters such as Service Type, Installation, File Mask, etc. |
Groups | Queries can be assigned to a group to schedule periodic execution, or if queries must be grouped according to a particular workflow, or for other reasons. The Groups window in the Diagnostics area allows you to manage existing groups, or create new groups. In addition, it is possible to define execution order for queries within a group. |
Installation Details | Each installation has a Details window which is focused after opening the installation and contains the following information: Name, Type, Platform, Root, System Performance (such as CPU usage, Processes amount, time from last reboot), Physical Memory Usage, Virtual Memory Usage, Disk Usage, Top System Processes, Top Eagle Processes, and Network Statistics. In addition, for Linux platforms, a link to the Coredumps List window is available. For Windows platforms, links to Application Event Logs and System Event Logs windows are available. |
Kill Process commnand | The Kill Process command can be used for Scheduler and Message Center services if you need to reload only one process, but not the service. This command can be found in the context menu in the Details window. |
KPI Attributes Monitor | This feature can be used for getting email reports when some performance measurements reach a warning or critical value. The settings for monitoring can be found in the System Health Monitor window in the System Settings area. You can select installation, service type, and measure type as parameters for monitoring in the KPI Attributes Monitor tab. Also, you should be subscribed to the KPI Attribute Monitor Notifications mailing to receive mail reports in the Email Settings window in the System Settings area. |
Last Hour Logs command | Latest logs related to a selected service can be found using the Get Last Hour Logs command in the context menu in the Services window. |
Log Errors Monitor | This feature can be used for getting email reports when an error was found in the log files and it matches a defined pattern. The settings for monitoring can be found in the System Health Monitor window in the System Settings area. Also, you should be subscribed to the Log Errors Monitor Notifications mailing to receive mail reports in the Email Settings window in the System Settings area. |
Logging Settings | The Logging Settings window can be used for changing log level and other logging parameters. This window is available from the Services ribbon for each service, except for the following service types: Web Server, STAR Engines, PACE Server, and Brokers. |
Merged Events | The Merged Events window provides information about processed STAR Events and merges them with the Event History by Event ID. Also, you can find here both messages for a selected merged event: Event History Messages and Processed Event Messages. |
Private Catchup Groups | For any STAR Engine Group, a Private Catchup Group can be defined. You can find these groups in the Catchup Groups tab of the SyncSend Settings window in the System Settings area. |
Process Explorer | The Process Explorer tab is available for each installation and allows you to check all running processes. In this tab, you can find the following information about processes: PID, Name, Description, Revivals, CPU, Memory, Virtual Memory, and Command Line. |
Process Stack Collection | The Current Process Stack for a selected process can be found in the service Details window after clicking the Stack Information link. Also, collected stacks can be found in the Collected Stacks tab. The Process Stack Scheduler dialog box can be opened by clicking the Collect Process Stack button. This button allows you to collect stacks during the defined period of time and deliver them to an FTP or Email address. |
Process Status Monitor | This feature can be used for getting email reports when the process status is changed. The settings for monitoring can be found in the System Health Monitor window in the System Settings area. You can select the installation, service type, and the type of event (such as stopped, started, etc.) for monitoring in the Process Status Monitor tab. Also, you should be subscribed to the Processes State Notifications mailing to receive mail reports in the Email Settings window in the System Settings area. |
Queries | In the Queries window in the Diagnostics area, you can find a list of database core queriers, or you can manage custom database queries. |
Refresh Engine Cache | A List of CCF commands related to the Refresh Engine Cache can be found in the Refresh Engine Cache window in the System Settings area. |
Refresh Events Table command | You can refresh the Events Table by clicking the Refresh Events Table button on the Event Types ribbon which is accessible from the Event Types window. |
Refresh Master Scheduler command | To perform a Master Scheduler refresh, you need to click the Refresh Master Scheduler button which is located on the Event Types ribbon. |
Scheduled Restart | The Scheduled Restart feature allows you to schedule periodic restart event for services. All parameters for restart and related notifications can be defined in schedules in the Restart Schedules window in the System Settings area. Also, you can open this window from the context menu in the Services window by clicking the Manage Schedules item. All services that need to be assigned for schedules should be assigned manually by using the Assign Primary Schedule or Assign Secondary Schedule items from the context menu in the Services window. Your email address should be subscribed to the Service Schedule Notifications mailing to receive mail about restart results and alert notifications in the Email Settings window in the System Settings area. |
Schedules | Query Groups can be scheduled for periodic execution in the Schedules window in the Diagnostics area. Schedule execution results can be delivered to an FTP location, Email Address, or HTTP address. Also, you can find execution results in the Archive Tool Kit Items window by using the Show Archive button on the Queries ribbon. |
Send Logs and Configuration | The Send Logs & Configuration feature in the Diagnostics area allows you to deliver logs, config files, and process stacks related to selected services and query execution results to an FTP location, Email address, or to save these locally. |
Service Configuration | Each service has a Configuration tab where you can view and manage all configuration files and service properties from the database, if such settings exist. In addition, you can find the File History command by using the context menu. |
Service Details | Each service has a Details tab where you can view all processes with the following information: Process Name, Process Subtype, Command Line, PID, Revivals, CPU Usage, CPU Time, Virtual Memeory, Physical Memory, Handles/Descriptors, Threads, Stack Information, and Opened Handles/Descriptors. |
Service Logs | Each service has a Logs tab where you can view log files related to the service. |
Service Profile | Service Profiles can be used for configuring EM Shell and Message Center services. You can find service profiles in the Profiles window in the System Settings area. Each profile contain properties and they can be accessed by using the Show Properties command from the context menu. Additional information about the Service Profiles usage can be found by clicking the Question button at the right corner of the Service Profile Properties window. |
Socket Usage | The Socket Usage tab is available for each installation and allows you to check used sockets for all running processes related to the current installation. |
SyncSend Configuration | SyncSend Configuration can be found in the Global Configuration tab in the SyncSend Settings window in the System Settings area. |
SyncSend Rules | You can view and edit SyncSend Rules in the Rules tab in the SyncSend Settings window in the System Settings area. |
System Health Monitor | System Health Monitor allows you to configure system monitoring processes by using different types of monitoring tools such as Process Staus Monitor, KPI Attributes Monitor, Event Log Monitor, and Logs Errors Monitor. In addition, for the Linux platform, you can configure the Core Dumps Monitor and Oracle Cluster Monitor. |
System KPI Attributes | The Performance Collection feature can be configured in the System KPI Attributes window in the System Settings area. |
System Parameters | You can view or configure general system parameters in the System Parameters window which is located in the System Settings area. |
